# When did Kick get ads?
The honest answer has stages, which is why dates differ between articles. Banner ads came first, in 2023. Reports of ads in streams came in mid-2026, and the formal launch followed that August.
| Date | What happened | Source type |
|---|---|---|
| May 2023 | First ad: a homepage banner for Alfa Romeo | Trade press |
| Dec 2025 | CEO says ads are coming, no date | News report |
| Jun 16, 2026 | A viewer reports ads in streams | Forum post |
| Jul 29, 2026 | Date on Kick's viewer ad FAQ | Kick Help |
| Aug 4, 2026 | Launch date given by GamesBeat | Trade press |
| Aug 7, 2026 | Date on Kick's own press post | Kick |
Digiday reported in May 2023 that Kick's "first and only advertising offering is a banner ad for Alfa Romeo", and that Kick had "no plans to introduce the pre-rolls and in-stream banner ads" seen elsewhere.[12] On June 16, 2026, a Brave user wrote: "Recently Kick seem to have added ads in the streams".[13] GamesBeat later put the launch at August 4, when Kick "launched Kick Ads" for marketers.[9] Kick's press post carries August 7.[4] So viewers may have seen ads before the announcement. One forum post cannot show how widely they ran at that stage.
# What Kick ads look like
Tubefilter describes the format as ads "on its live broadcasts", and Kick's help pages call them ad breaks.[10][1] These are the details Kick has confirmed:
- They interrupt the stream. Kick's site text for streamers refers to "a mandatory, non-skippable ad".[17]
- You cannot skip them. Kick's answer is "Not currently. This may change in the future".[1]
- Length varies. "Most ad breaks include a countdown timer so you can see how much time is left."[1]
- They differ by viewer. "not everyone sees the same ads at the same time."[1]
- A slot can stay empty. "There may also be times an ad break is scheduled but no ad plays."[1]
Kick will not give a list of advertisers, because it "changes over time and won't be the same for everyone."[1] Its advertising policy allows some sensitive categories only under conditions. Gambling advertisers, for example, "must hold a valid gambling license in the target jurisdiction".[6]
# How often do ads play on Kick?
Kick has not published a fixed number. Its help page says only: "Ad frequency can vary depending on category, channel, country, and language."[2] The one figure in its creator FAQ is an example, not a rule: "if ad breaks are scheduled every 45 minutes and you delay one by 5 minutes, the next break will still run at the original 45-minute mark".[2]
The text Kick serves on its website adds some detail. On 31 October 2026, a Kick channel page contained these streamer-side messages:[17]
| Topic | Kick wording | What it suggests |
|---|---|---|
| Automatic breaks | "a mandatory, non-skippable ad played every" | A set interval by category, filled in by Kick |
| Test group | "one very short ad break per hour" | Some streamers get a lighter schedule |
| Manual breaks | "Ad Break left this hour" | Streamer-started breaks have an hourly limit |
| Delays | "Ads can be deferred once per live stream." | One delay per stream |
Those lines show that the interval exists and depends on category, but not what the number is. The values come from Kick's servers, and the settings that hold them need a streamer login. So the honest answer is that frequency differs between streams and Kick has not said by how much.
# Do Kick subscribers see ads?
Kick gives two opposite answers, and both pages were live on 31 October 2026.
| Kick page | What it says | Page date |
|---|---|---|
| Ad FAQ for viewers | "No, you won't see ads on channels you're subscribed to." | July 29, 2026 |
| Ad FAQ for creators | "No, subscribers do not see ads on channels they're subscribed to." | Updated over 4 weeks ago |
| Subscriptions for viewers | "Ad experience on KICK is the same whether you are subscribed to a channel or not." | Updated this week |
The two ad FAQs are the pages written about ads, and they agree with each other.[1][2] The subscriptions page is the most recently updated, and it says plainly: "Subscribing does not remove ads on KICK."[3] Kick has not explained the difference. It may be an outdated line, or it may be a real rule change, and nothing published settles which.
Even on the most generous reading, a sub covers one channel. Kick's wording is "channels you're subscribed to", so other channels would still show ads.[1]
# How to avoid ads on Kick
Kick offers no ad-free plan in its help pages. Its subscriptions page says subs are not "a premium tier of the platform itself", and none of its 158 English help articles use the words ad-free.[3][17] That leaves these options.
- Wait, then rewind. This is the route Kick recommends: "If you miss a moment because of an ad, you can rewind to watch it uninterrupted."[1] The controls are in can you rewind Kick streams.
- Subscribe, with the warning above. Two Kick pages say it removes ads on that channel, and one says it does not.[1][2][3]
- Turn off personalized ads. This changes which ads you get, not how many. Kick's settings text says "Personalized ads use your activity on KICK to show ads that may be more relevant to you."[17]
- Watch a clip. "Clips only capture stream content, not ads."[1]
What about ad blockers on Kick?
Searches for a Kick ad blocker are common, so here is what is on record. Kick's terms do not use the words ad blocker.[5] Its browser guide lists ad blockers among the "most common culprits" when the site misbehaves, and says "you can usually whitelist KICK".[7] It also names them in its chat and login troubleshooting.[17] On results, the one report read for this guide is the Brave thread, titled "Kick ads not always being blocked".[13] Whether any blocker works today is unknown, because none was tested here. If Kick stops loading or chat breaks, an extension is one of the first things its guide tells you to check.
# Where ads appear: app, VODs, clips and casino streams
Kick says ads run "across the platform", but its pages only discuss a few places by name.[1]
| Place | Ads? | Basis |
|---|---|---|
| Live streams, web | Yes | Kick Help |
| Clips | No | Kick Help |
| Mobile app | Not stated | The app guide does not mention ads |
| TV apps | Not stated | No page covers this |
| VODs | Not stated | Website code has ad tracking for VODs |
| Slots & Casino streams | Not stated | Kick only rules out pay |
Two rows deserve a note. For VODs, Kick's web code contains an ad-tracking route for video-on-demand playback, plus a post-roll ad player on channel pages that sits behind a switch.[17] That shows the option is built. It does not show that either is running for you, and no VOD was watched for this guide. For how long replays stay up, see how long Kick VODs last.
On Slots & Casino, Kick's sentence is "Monetisation is not available in the Slots & Casino category."[2] That sits in the answer about pay. It does not say ads stay off those streams, although some summaries read it that way. Kick's site text also has messages saying "Ads are blocked for this stream" and "Ads aren't allowed for this stream", without saying which streams they apply to.[17]
# Do Kick streamers get paid for ads?
Not directly. Kick's creator FAQ says "Ads themselves do not currently generate direct additional payment. KPP creators are compensated through the KICK Partner Program."[2] Its terms go further: "Except where otherwise agreed in writing, you are not entitled to any compensation for Platform Advertisements."[5] Win.gg reads this the same way, saying ads "are not a source of revenue on Kick for streamers".[14]
So when an ad plays on a channel, the streamer gets no direct payment for it. Whether a break on a Partner's stream affects Partner pay is not addressed in the pages read here. How Partner pay works is covered in does Kick pay hourly.
That may not be permanent. Kick's Ryan Webb told GamesBeat, on linking ads with the Partner Program, that "The goal is absolutely to work out the best ecosystem that involves the creators."[9] He gave no share and no date, and that is an aim, not a payment. Kick's terms also mention that users "may commercialize their on-platform activity in connection with Platform Advertisements", as Kick decides.[5]
# Kick ads vs Twitch ads
Kick's system is new and offers streamers fewer choices than Twitch's. This compares what each company has published, not how many ads a viewer actually sees, which neither page states for a typical stream.
| Topic | Kick | Twitch |
|---|---|---|
| Streamer share | No direct payment | 55% net share unlocked at 3 ad minutes an hour |
| Subscribers | Kick pages conflict | Streamer can allow ad-free viewing |
| Pre-rolls | Not mentioned in help pages | Removed by 3 mid-roll minutes an hour |
| Opting out | Not for scheduled ads | Streamers set ad minutes per hour |
Twitch's page says "Simply run at least 3 minutes of ads per hour via Ads Manager to unlock 55% net revenue share."[16] It also offers an Ad-Free Viewing setting to "Allow subscribers to watch content on your channel ad-free."[16] The wider platform comparison is in Kick vs Twitch 2026. For Twitch's own settings, read the Twitch ad settings guide.
# For streamers: what you control
You cannot switch scheduled ads off: "At this stage, creators aren't able to opt out of scheduled ads."[2] You do have these controls:
- Delay or start early. When a break is coming, your dashboard shows a countdown "with the option to delay the break using the available defer options, or trigger it early."[2] Kick's site text says a delay can be used once per stream.[17]
- Plan around the clock. "Delaying a break doesn't change the timing of the next scheduled break."[2] Move it for a key moment, not to buy a longer gap.
- Keep your sponsors. "Any existing personal sponsorship deals or partnerships you have remain unaffected."[2] The terms warn that Kick is not responsible for a conflict between its ads and your deals.[5]
- Tell your chat about rewind. A viewer who loses a moment to an ad can go back and watch it.[1]
Starting a break early has a short lag: "It might take" a set number of seconds "for an ad to show in stream."[17] Kick's break-start warning also reminds you: "Once started, you cannot reverse this action".[17]
You set the speed and window
Streamrise sells Kick viewers. Your channel link only, no password, and you set the speed and window, from 30 minutes to a month. Kick's Community Guidelines prohibit bots and third-party tools that artificially inflate views. Read them and decide for yourself.
- ~5 min to the first viewer
- Your channel link only, no password
- Delivery log per order
# Where older guides no longer match
The answer changed recently, so plenty of pages still carry an earlier one. Check the date before you trust any of these claims.
| Claim | Where it comes from | Today |
|---|---|---|
| Kick is ad-free | True until 2026 | Kick shows ads |
| Streamers get an ad share | Launch-week commentary | No direct payment |
| Subs never see ads | Kick ad FAQs | Disputed by a newer Kick page |
| Ads run every 45 minutes | Kick's worked example | No published schedule |
Dexerto wrote in December 2025 that "Since launching, though, Kick has been ad-free."[11] That was accurate then. A StreamChat AI post from launch week said "there's meant to be a share going to streamers", and added that the split was something to watch.[15] Kick's creator FAQ, updated since, says ads pay no direct money.[2]
# The bottom line
Kick has ads. They play as unskippable breaks in live streams, their frequency varies, and Kick has published no schedule.[1][2] Do not count on a sub to remove them until Kick settles the conflict between its own pages.[3] If a break covers a moment, rewind. If you stream, use your delay carefully, and expect no direct pay from the ads for now.[2]
# FAQ
Does Kick have ads now?
Yes. Kick announced KICK Ads in August 2026, and ad breaks now play inside live streams. Banner ads had existed since 2023.
Why does Kick have ads now?
Kick says ads support the platform's growth, stability and development. CEO Ed Craven said in December 2025 that Kick was losing a little money and would add ads at some point.
Can you skip ads on Kick?
No. Kick says ads are not currently skippable and that this may change. Most breaks show a countdown.
How often do ads play on Kick?
Kick has not published a schedule. It says frequency varies by category, channel, country and language. The 45-minute figure in its creator FAQ is an example.
Do subs get ads on Kick?
Kick's pages conflict. Both ad FAQs say subscribers see no ads on channels they subscribe to, while its subscriptions page says subscribing does not remove ads.
How do you block ads on Kick?
Kick offers no ad-free plan in its help pages. Whether ad blockers work is unknown, and Kick's browser guide says they can cause problems on the site. Rewinding after a break is the option Kick recommends.
Do Kick streamers get paid for ads?
Not directly. Kick says ads do not currently generate direct additional payment, and Partners are paid through the Kick Partner Program.
Can streamers turn off ads on Kick?
No, not for scheduled ads. Streamers can delay a break or start it early from the dashboard.
Does Kick have fewer ads than Twitch?
Neither company publishes figures that settle this for a typical stream, so it is unknown. Kick's schedule varies and has not been published.
Does Kick have ads on VODs?
Kick's help pages do not say. Its website code includes ad tracking for VOD playback, but that does not prove ads are running on VODs.
Does the Kick app have ads?
Kick says ads run across the platform, but its app guide does not mention them, so the app's behaviour is not confirmed.
Why do I see gambling ads on Kick?
Kick does not publish its advertiser list. Its policy allows licensed gambling advertisers under conditions, and streamers can also run their own sponsorships, which are separate from Kick's ads.
