# Where Kick lets you change your profile picture
The setting is on your profile page in Kick's account settings, and those settings exist only on the website. Kick's app guide lists what the app cannot do: "Some actions are not available in the mobile app and must be done through your browser at kick.com". The list includes "Adjusting your account settings — profile information, security settings, notification preferences, and other account controls".[2] The same guide adds: "If you cannot find a setting in the app, log in to kick.com in your browser. The app is designed for watching and engaging with content, not for managing your account."[2]
A phone is fine, as long as you use its browser. Kick's guide says to "log in to KICK in your browser on desktop or mobile."[2] There are three ways to reach the right page, and they all end in the same place:
- Through the account menu. Kick's viewer profile articles give the route: "Click your avatar in the top right corner", go to your account settings, and open the profile section.[3][4] The menu that opens from your avatar lists Channel, Streamer Dashboard, Subscriptions, Settings and Log out.[7]
- From your channel page. Kick's channel page guide describes a Customise Channel button that "Redirects you to your profile settings."[6]
- By address. Kick's profile article links the page directly as your Profile Information page, at kick.com/settings/profile.[1]
# How to change your Kick profile picture, step by step
These steps are the same on a computer and in a phone browser. Each one comes from Kick's profile article, unless marked otherwise.
- Open kick.com in a browser and log in. On a phone, use Safari, Chrome or another browser, not the Kick app.[2]
- Go to your profile settings. Click your avatar in the top right, then go to your account settings and open the profile section.[4] Kick's own link for this page is kick.com/settings/profile.[1]
- Click Edit Avatar. Kick: "To change your avatar, click Edit Avatar, then either select from a set of pre-made KICK avatars or upload your own image."[1]
- Upload your image, or pick a pre-made one. Use a JPG, JPEG or PNG of at least 128px by 128px and no more than 4MB.[1]
- Click Confirm. Kick: "Click Confirm to save your changes."[1]
Kick's pages do not say how long a new picture takes to show up in chat or on your channel page. One third-party guide says it is instant, which Kick's pages do not confirm.[11]
# Kick profile picture size and file rules
Kick's profile article gives the rules for all three images you can set on the profile page. The avatar is the profile picture. The other two are banners, covered in Section 5.
| Image | Size Kick lists | File limits |
|---|---|---|
| Avatar (profile picture) | At least 128 × 128 px | Up to 4MB. JPG, JPEG or PNG |
| Banner image | At least 1280 × 700 px | Up to 4MB. JPG, JPEG or PNG |
| Offline banner | 1920 × 1080 px, a 1080p image | Up to 4MB. JPG, JPEG or PNG |
The lines behind the table, as Kick writes them: "Avatar Minimum Image Dimensions: 128px x 128px", "Maximum File Size: 4MB" and "Support File Types: JPG, JPEG, PNG". For the banner: "Banner Image Minimum Dimensions: 1280px x 700px". For the offline banner: "Image Dimensions: 1920px x 1080px".[1]
# Why can't I change my pfp on Kick? Six checks
Searching Kick's Help Center for the words avatar and profile picture on 20 October 2026 turned up no article about a failed upload, so this checklist is built from the rules above. Work down it in order.
- You are in the Kick app. There is no avatar setting to find there. Kick lists profile information among the settings that "must be done through your browser at kick.com".[2]
- The file type is not on Kick's list. Kick names JPG, JPEG and PNG only.[1] A GIF, WEBP or any other format is outside that list, so use a JPG or PNG.
- The file is over 4MB. That is Kick's maximum for the avatar.[1] A larger file is outside the rule, so use a smaller one.
- The image is smaller than 128px on a side. Kick's minimum is 128px by 128px.[1]
- You did not click Confirm. Kick's steps end with "Click Confirm to save your changes."[1]
- The new picture is saved but not showing yet. Kick does not say how fast the change appears.[1] One third-party guide says it is instant; Kick's pages do not confirm that.[11]
# The two banner images on the same page
The profile page has two banner slots next to Edit Avatar, and Kick's own descriptions of them overlap. The profile article says "Banner images are displayed at the top of your channel page when your stream is offline." and "The channel offline banner is the image shown on your channel page when your stream has ended."[1] Kick's channel page guide describes the offline banner as "Your channel’s offline banner, which changes when you are livestreaming."[6]
| Banner | Button on the page | Kick says it shows |
|---|---|---|
| Banner image | Edit Banner Image | At the top of your channel when you are offline |
| Offline banner | Update Offline Banner Image | On your channel after a stream has ended |
Kick does not explain the difference between "offline" and "has ended" in more detail. Both slots take files of up to 4MB in JPG, JPEG or PNG.[1] For the banner, Kick's branding guide advises: "Keep important elements away from edges that may be cropped on different devices".[5]
# What to upload, and what everyone can see
Kick's branding guide has four short rules for the profile picture: "Use a clear, recognisable image", "Make sure it works at small sizes (your avatar appears in chat and browse pages)", "Avoid heavy text or fine detail that becomes unreadable when shrunk" and "Many Streamers use a logo, mascot, or stylised photo of themselves".[5] If you are on other platforms too, it suggests "The same profile picture so people recognise you instantly".[5]
Three things to avoid, each from Kick's own pages:
- Art you do not have the rights to. Kick's branding guide lists "Using copyrighted assets" as a common mistake and says such art "can lead to legal trouble".[5]
- Looking like someone else. Kick's suspension article lists "Impersonation — using usernames deliberately similar to other Streamers, or pretending to be someone you are not".[10]
- Anything outside the guidelines. Profile information has to stay "appropriate and within the bounds of these Community Guidelines."[9]
| Information | Visible to others? | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Profile picture | Yes | Shown next to your username |
| Username | Yes | Public |
| About section | Yes | Your bio |
| Channels you follow | No | Not on your profile |
# Where other guides disagree with Kick
Two third-party guides that come up in web search for this question agree with Kick on the avatar rules. Both repeat the 128px minimum and the 4MB maximum.[11][12] Where they go further than Kick's pages, they say things Kick does not.
| Question | Third-party guide | Kick says |
|---|---|---|
| Offline banner file limit | Eklipse: less than 10MB | 4MB maximum |
| How long the offline banner shows | Eklipse: two minutes after a stream ends | No time given |
| When a new picture appears | Social Age Checker: right away | Not stated |
| Why uploads fail | Social Age Checker: almost always file size | No reason given |
The quotes behind the rows. Eklipse says the offline banner is "displayed for two minutes after your stream ends" and must be "less than 10MB in size".[12] Kick's profile article gives the offline banner the same 4MB maximum as the avatar and gives no time.[1] Social Age Checker says "Your new picture updates immediately across chat and your channel page." and "If your upload fails silently, it’s almost always one of these, usually the file size".[11] Neither claim appears on the Kick pages read for this guide. The Eklipse page was last modified in December 2024, so it may describe an older version of the settings page.
# For streamers: the picture is part of your channel
On your own channel page, your profile picture sits with your channel name and follower count.[6] Kick's branding guide suggests a basic picture, banner and panels in the first month, and improving them later: "The goal is to start, not to start perfect."[5]
The username lives on the same settings page but has rules the picture does not: "Your channel name can only be updated once every 60 days.", and a name change needs two-factor authentication.[1] The full rename steps are in the Kick username guide. Emotes and sub badges are set elsewhere; see how to add emotes on Kick.
You set the speed and window
Streamrise sells Kick viewers. You set the delivery speed and window in the dashboard, from 30 minutes to a month. No Kick password needed, just your channel link. Kick's suspension article lists botting among the things that get accounts suspended. Read it and decide for yourself.
- 30 min to a month, you set the window
- No Kick password needed
- Per-order delivery log
# The bottom line
Your Kick profile picture is changed on kick.com, in a browser on your phone or computer, never in the app.[2] Click Edit Avatar, upload a JPG, JPEG or PNG of at least 128 by 128 pixels and no more than 4MB, or pick a pre-made avatar, and click Confirm.[1] If a guide gives you a different limit, check it against Kick's profile article, which is the only page that lists them.
