# The short answer: what a Kick clip is
A Kick clip is a short video cut from a live stream or a VOD, between 10 and 180 seconds long.[1] Anyone logged in can make one, on any channel, unless the streamer has turned clipping off or has banned them from chat.[1][2] The streamer can see and delete clips made of their channel.
| Question | What Kick says |
|---|---|
| Who can clip | Any logged-in viewer, and the streamer |
| How long | 10 to 180 seconds, on desktop and on mobile |
| How to start | The Clip icon in the player, or the C key |
| Live or VOD | Both, says the clip article. The troubleshooting article says usually live only |
| Time between clips | A 60-second cooldown after each clip |
| Sharing | Download as an .mp4 file, copy the clip link, or send it to chat |
| Ads | Not captured. Clips only contain stream content |
| Who can delete | Kick's pages disagree. See below |

# How to make a clip on Kick, step by step
These are the steps from Kick's clip article. They are the same for a live stream and a VOD.
- Log in to your Kick account. Kick's troubleshooting article: "You need to be logged in to your KICK account to create clips".[2]
- Open the live stream or VOD you want to clip.[1]
- Click the Clip icon in the player, or press C. Kick: "Click the Clip icon or use the keyboard shortcut C." The Create clip window opens.[1]
- Drag the slider handles to the moment you want. The preview updates as you move them, and a length indicator shows your selection next to the maximum length available.[1]
- Add a title or description.[1]
- Click Publish. The button shows "Publishing to KICK" while the clip is generated.[1]
After publishing, Kick gives you three options:[1]
- Download saves the clip to your device.
- Chat sends the new clip to the streamer's chat. Kick notes: "This option is not available when clipping VODs."[1]
- Clip Link copies a link you can share on other platforms.
# Clipping on mobile and from VODs
On mobile. Kick's clip article gives the same limit for phones: "Clips have a maximum length of 180 seconds (3 minutes) on both desktop and mobile."[1] That sentence is the only mention of making clips on mobile in the Kick articles used for this guide. The KICK mobile app guide for viewers lists "Watch VODs and Clips" among the app's features and explains how to find clips on a channel page, but its list of what you can do in the app does not mention creating clips.[4] Kick does not publish separate steps for the app.
From a VOD. Two Kick articles say you can. The clip article: "Yes, you can create Clips from VODs."[1] The VOD article: "Yes, you can create clips from VODs."[3] The troubleshooting article, which is older than both, says "You can usually only clip from a live stream, not from past content".[2] The two newer pages are more likely to describe the tool as it works now, but the older page still says otherwise. A clip made from a VOD cannot be sent to chat.[1]
# Why can't I clip on Kick?
Kick gives the reasons in two articles, and neither lists all of them. The clip article names two: "Clips cannot be created if you have been banned from the Streamer’s chat room. There is also a 60-second cooldown after creating one Clip before you can create another."[1] The troubleshooting article names four more for a missing or greyed-out clip button.[2] Put together:
| Reason Kick gives | Who it affects | What you can do |
|---|---|---|
| You are not logged in | Everyone | Log in, then refresh the page |
| The streamer turned clipping off | Every viewer on that channel | Nothing on your side. Ask the streamer |
| You are banned from that chat | You, on that channel only | Only the channel can lift the ban |
| 60-second cooldown | You, right after your last clip | Wait a minute and try again |
| The stream just started | Everyone, for a short time | Wait a little after the stream begins |
| The streamer is not live | Everyone, per the troubleshooting article | Open the VOD and clip from there |
Sources for the table: How to create clips on KICK[1] and Clips not saving or clip errors on KICK.[2] On the first row, Kick's wording is "You need to be logged in to your KICK account to create clips". On the second: "Streamers can choose to turn clipping off for their channel", and "If clipping is off, no Viewer can clip from that stream". On the fifth: "You may need to wait a short time after a stream begins before you can create clips".[2] If none of these applies, Kick suggests refreshing the page or restarting the app.[2]
The clip shows the wrong moment. Kick's clip article says: "Refresh your browser or device page to make sure you are watching the most up-to-date stream, then try creating the Clip again."[1] The troubleshooting article adds that "Clips on KICK capture a fixed amount of stream time before and after the moment you clip", and that you can usually trim a clip after creating it.[2]
# Where Kick clips go, and how to download or delete them
- Clips you made: log in, go to your profile or account section and open your clips library.[2]
- Clips of your channel, if you stream: the Clips tab on your channel page,[1] or the Clips section of your Streamer Dashboard.[2]
- In the mobile app: open a streamer's channel page and tap the Clips section.[4]
Downloading. "All Clips can be downloaded when viewed." Open the clip and click the Download button. "Your Clip will start downloading as an .mp4 file."[1] If you are about to delete your Kick account, download first: deletion permanently removes "Your messages, clips, and other content", and Kick's advice is "Download any clips or content you want to keep".[7]
Deleting, as the streamer. Log in, open your channel page, select the Clips tab, click the three dots next to the clip title and click Delete.[1] The troubleshooting article names the Streamer Dashboard as the place to delete a clip someone else made of your stream, and also suggests reporting a clip that breaks the Community Guidelines.[2]
Deleting, as the person who made the clip. Here Kick's pages disagree. The clip article says "Clips can only be deleted by the channel owner."[1] The troubleshooting article says that after a clip is created you can usually trim it, change the title and "Delete the clip" from your clip library.[2] If you clipped someone else's channel and find no delete option, the clip article's rule would explain it. If a clip you made has disappeared, Kick's answer is that "the Streamer most likely deleted it."[1] Moderators cannot delete clips under the clip article's rule; the Kick moderator guide lists what else they can and cannot do.
# Where Kick's pages and other guides disagree
Kick's clip articles were written at different times and do not always match, and some guides that rank for this search still describe an older version of the tool.
| Question | One source says | Another says |
|---|---|---|
| Can you clip a VOD? | Yes. How to create clips on KICK (June 15, 2026) and KICK VODs (May 21, 2026) | Usually live only. Clips not saving or clip errors on KICK (May 6, 2026) |
| Who can delete a clip? | Only the channel owner. How to create clips on KICK | The person who made it can usually delete it. Clips not saving or clip errors on KICK |
| How do you choose what a clip covers? | A slider, from 10 to 180 seconds. How to create clips on KICK | A fixed amount of time around the moment, trimmed afterwards. Clips not saving or clip errors on KICK |
| How long can a clip be? | Up to 180 seconds. How to create clips on KICK | Under a minute (StreamLadder) or up to 60 seconds (Eklipse) |
StreamLadder's guide, dated May 21, 2024 and on the first page of Google results for this search on 4 October 2026, says "clips are <1 minute long video clips" and "Currently, it seems like you can only make clips for livestreams that are currently happening, not for previous streams."[8] A guide from the clipping tool Eklipse, modified April 26, 2026, tells readers to "Set the clip start and end points (up to 60 seconds)" and says "Kick captures the last 30-60 seconds of the live stream".[9] Kick's own article gives 180 seconds as the maximum and says VODs can be clipped.[1]
# Can you make money clipping on Kick?
Kick's clip articles say nothing about payment. Neither How to create clips on KICK nor the troubleshooting article mentions pay, rewards or earnings for clips.[1][2] The Kick payment that is documented is for streamers. Kick's advertising FAQ for creators says "KPP creators are compensated through the KICK Partner Program."[5] What that program asks for is in the Kick Partner requirements guide.
What exists publicly about paid clipping is reporting of streamer claims. Dexerto reported on July 30, 2026 that Kick streamer Clavicular said on a podcast that he has "no clipping spend" because Kick pays for his clips to be promoted, and quoted him: "They’re driving traffic to their site."[10] The same article reports his claim that Kick's spending on his clipping campaign reached almost $700,000 in one month.[10] That is one streamer's account, reported second-hand. Kick has not published a program, rates or rules for clippers in any of the help articles used for this guide.
If someone offers to pay you per view for clips, the only terms are the ones they set, so read them before you start. Keep in mind that a streamer can delete clips of their channel at any time.[1]
Clips spread a stream. Viewers fill it
Streamrise delivers Kick viewers over a window you set in the dashboard, from 30 minutes to a month, and needs only your channel link, not your Kick password. Kick's Community Guidelines prohibit using bots, engagement manipulation or third-party tools to artificially inflate views, followers or interactions. Read them and decide for yourself.
- 30 min to a month, you set the window
- No password
# The bottom line
To clip on Kick, log in, click the Clip icon or press C on a live stream or VOD, pick up to 180 seconds and publish.[1] If it does not work, check the six reasons Kick gives: logged out, banned from that chat, the 60-second cooldown, clipping turned off by the streamer, a stream that has only just started, or a streamer who is not live.[1][2] Where Kick's own pages disagree, on VODs and on who can delete a clip, the slider and the options on your screen are the final word.
